Dr. B. R. AMBEDKAR'S MAHAPARINIRVAN DIWAS - 6th DECEMBER

Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas is observed every year on 6th December to commemorate the death anniversary of one of India’s greatest social reformers, jurists, economists, and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. On this solemn day, millions of people across the country pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar and reflect on his unparalleled contribution to nation-building and social justice.

Dr. Ambedkar dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of the oppressed, particularly the Scheduled Castes and other marginalized communities who suffered centuries of discrimination. Through his relentless struggle, he championed the principles of equality, liberty, fraternity, and justice, which later became the foundational values of the Indian Constitution. His vision was not merely political but deeply humanitarian, aimed at creating a society based on dignity and equal opportunity for all.

Mahaparinirvan Diwas is observed with great reverence at Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai, where Dr. Ambedkar was cremated. People from all walks of life gather to offer floral tributes, participate in prayer meetings, and attend lectures highlighting his thoughts and ideals. Educational institutions, social organizations, and libraries organize seminars, essay competitions, and discussions to spread awareness about his teachings and legacy.

Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts remain profoundly relevant in contemporary India. Issues of social inequality, discrimination, and access to education continue to challenge society, making his ideas a guiding light even today. Mahaparinirvan Diwas is not only a day of remembrance but also a reminder of our collective responsibility to uphold constitutional values and work towards an inclusive and just society.

By remembering Dr. Ambedkar on this day, we renew our commitment to his dream of an India where human dignity, equality, and social harmony prevail above all else.
