Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day)

 

Every year on 26th November, India pauses for a moment—like turning the page of a precious book—to celebrate Samvidhan Diwas, the day our Constitution was adopted. It is not just a date marked on the calendar; it is the birthday of India’s identity, the blueprint of our democracy, and the guiding light that shows us who we are and who we can become.

More than seven decades ago, a group of brilliant minds gathered in the halls of the Constituent Assembly. Among them stood a remarkable leader—Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a visionary who believed that a nation is built not just with bricks, but with ideas. He, along with other members, spent nearly three years debating, discussing, and dreaming. They didn’t simply write a document—they carved out a future.

The Constitution they gifted us is like a compass. It tells us what direction our country should move in:

towards justice,

towards liberty,

towards equality,

and towards fraternity.

These are not just powerful words; they are promises—promises that every Indian carries within their heart.

But Samvidhan Diwas is not only about celebrations. It is also a gentle reminder. A reminder that while we enjoy our Fundamental Rights, we must also honour our Fundamental Duties. A nation becomes truly strong not only when its people demand their rights, but also when they responsibly perform their duties—protecting public property, respecting others, and contributing to unity.

 

In many ways, the Constitution is like a living tree. It grows, adapts, and spreads its branches through amendments, ensuring that new generations find shade under its values. And like gardeners, we are responsible for nurturing it.

So, on this Samvidhan Diwas, let us not just remember the past—let us celebrate the present and imagine the future. Let us carry the spirit of the Constitution within us, not only in our words but in our actions. For every time we stand for truth, treat someone with respect, or protect another’s rights, we honour the legacy of the day our Constitution was born.

Samvidhan Diwas is more than a commemoration.

It is a celebration of India’s soul—a soul that beats with democracy, dignity, and hope.

छब्बीस नवंबर की सुनहरी भोर,
लाया भारत के लिए नया दौर।
लिखा गया था एक महान विधान,
जिससे रोशन हुआ भारत का मान।

डॉ. अंबेडकर की दूरदृष्टि थी,
हर शब्द में उनकी सच्ची शक्ति थी।
न्याय, स्वतंत्रता, समानता का संग,
बंधुत्व की भावना से जुड़ा हर अंग।

संविधान हमारा गौरव है,
देश का दीपक, पथप्रदर्शक है।
अधिकारों का देता है संदेश,
कर्तव्यों से बनता है देश।

हम सब मिलकर प्रतिज्ञा लें,
नियमों का सदा सम्मान करें।
सच्चाई, साहस साथ लिए,
भारत को ऊँचा स्थान करें।

इस संविधान दिवस पर हम,
नया संकल्प जगाएँ मन में।
देश की शान को बढ़ाएँ हम,
कर्तव्य निभाएँ तन-मन-धन से।
