२७ फेब्रुवारी हा दिवस मराठी भाषा गौरव दिन म्हणून संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात उत्साहात साजरा केला जातो. मराठी भाषेच्या समृद्ध परंपरेचा, साहित्यिक वारशाचा आणि सांस्कृतिक अभिमानाचा गौरव करण्यासाठी हा दिवस विशेष मानला जातो. या लेखातून मराठी भाषा गौरव दिनाचा इतिहास, उद्देश आणि त्याचे महत्त्व जाणून घेऊया.

 

मराठी ही राजभाषा

लोकांकडून जेव्हा एखादी भाषा अधिक प्रमाणात बोलीभाषा म्हणून वापरली जाते तेव्हा भारतीय राज्यघटनेतील अनुच्छेद ३४७ नुसार राजभाषा मान्यता देण्याची तरतूद आणि अधिकार हा राष्ट्रपतींना असतो. मराठी भाषेचे उत्तम ज्ञान आणि त्यातील गोडीचे साहित्य क्षेत्रामध्ये महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान कवी कुसुमाग्रज यांनी दिले आहे आणि म्हणूनच ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार प्राप्त असणाऱ्या कवी कुसुमाग्रज यांना अभिवादन म्हणून २१ जानेवारी, २०१३ रोजी त्यांचा वाढदिवस अर्थात २७ फेब्रुवारी हा दिन ‘मराठी भाषा गौरव दिन’ साजरा करण्यात यावा अशी घोषणा करण्यात आली.

भारतामधील २२ अधिकृत भाषांमधील एक भाषा म्हणजे मराठी

जगातील सर्वाधिक बोलीभाषेपैकी मराठी ही १५ व्या क्रमांकावर असणारी भाषा आहे, तर

भारतामधील ३ री भाषा गणली जाते

महाराष्ट्र आणि गोव्याची मराठी ही अधिकृत भाषा आहे

दीर्घ साहित्यिक वापसा आणि परंपरा असणारी अशी ही भाषा सर्वांना आपलीशी वाटते

मराठी भाषा गौरव दिन आणि राजभाषा दिन फरक

बरेचदा मराठी भाषा गौरव दिन आणि मराठी राजभाषा दिन यामध्ये अनेकांचा गोंधळ उडतो. १ मे, १९६० रोजी महाराष्ट्र हे स्वतंत्र राज्य तयार झाले आणि मराठी भाषेला राज्याची अधिकृत भाषा मानण्यात आले. त्यामुळे १ मे राजभाषा दिन म्हणून साजरा करण्यात येतो. तर २७ फेब्रुवारी रोजी कुसुमाग्रजांच्या मराठीतील योगदानामुळे त्यांच्या वाढदिवशी

Swami Vivekananda: A Guiding Light for Students

 

Swami Vivekananda was one of India’s greatest thinkers, spiritual leaders, and youth icons. Born on 12 January 1863, he believed that the true strength of a nation lies in its young minds. His life and teachings continue to inspire students to rise with confidence, discipline, and a sense of purpose.

Vivekananda strongly believed in education that builds character, not just degrees. According to him, education should develop self-confidence, moral values, and the ability to think independently. He encouraged students to be fearless, to question, and to learn with sincerity. His famous words, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” motivate students to remain determined even in difficult situations.

One of the most important messages of Swami Vivekananda for students is self-belief. He taught that each individual has immense power within and that success comes when we trust our abilities. He urged students to avoid weakness, negativity, and laziness, and instead practice hard work, discipline, and dedication.

Swami Vivekananda also emphasized the importance of service to humanity. He believed that education should not make us selfish, but sensitive to society’s needs. A true student, according to him, is one who uses knowledge for the welfare of others and works for social harmony and national development.

34th State Level Inter Collegiate Essay Writing Competition

 

Students of DTSS College of Commerce actively participated in the 34th State Level Inter-Collegiate Essay Writing Competition organized on the occasion of Anti-Dowry Day and Human Rights Day. The competition was held at Vile Parle (East), Mumbai, and was organized by the Anti-Dowry Movement, Bombay. The participation of our students reflected their awareness, social responsibility, and commitment towards promoting human rights and eradicating social evils like the dowry system.

Savitribai Phule Jayanti

 

Celebrating the Light of Knowledge, Equality, and Courage

Every year, Savitribai Phule Jayanti is observed with deep respect and gratitude to remember one of India’s greatest social reformers and the first woman teacher of modern India. Born on 3rd January 1831, Savitribai Phule dedicated her entire life to education, women’s empowerment, and social equality at a time when society was deeply rooted in discrimination, superstition, and injustice. Her life stands as a powerful reminder that education is the strongest weapon to fight ignorance and inequality.

Savitribai Phule was not only an educator but also a fearless reformer who challenged the rigid social norms of the 19th century. At a time when educating girls was considered a sin and women were confined within household boundaries, she stepped out with courage, holding books in her hands and dreams in her heart. Along with her husband, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, she established the first school for girls in Pune in 1848, opening the doors of education to those who were denied it for centuries.

Her journey was full of struggles. While going to school to teach, Savitribai Phule was often abused, insulted, and attacked with stones, mud, and cow dung. Yet, she never turned back. Instead, she carried an extra sari with her, changed her clothes, and continued teaching with determination. This unwavering courage reflects her strong belief that knowledge has the power to transform society.

Savitribai Phule worked tirelessly for the upliftment of women, Dalits, and the oppressed sections of society. She strongly opposed child marriage, caste discrimination, and the ill-treatment of widows. She started homes for widows and orphaned children and supported widow remarriage when society considered it unacceptable. Through her actions, she proved that true reform begins with compassion and courage.

Apart from being an educator, Savitribai Phule was also a poet and thinker. Her poems spread messages of self-respect, education, and social awareness. She believed that ignorance was the root cause of social evils and that education could bring dignity, freedom, and equality to every human being. Her thoughts were far ahead of her time and continue to inspire modern India.

Savitribai Phule’s contribution becomes even more meaningful when we look at the progress of women’s education today. The presence of girls in schools, colleges, universities, and professional fields is a reflection of the seeds sown by pioneers like her. Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas is observed every year on 6th December to commemorate the death anniversary of one of India’s greatest social reformers, jurists, economists, and the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. On this solemn day, millions of people across the country pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar and reflect on his unparalleled contribution to nation-building and social justice.

Dr. Ambedkar dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of the oppressed, particularly the Scheduled Castes and other marginalized communities who suffered centuries of discrimination. Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day)

 

Every year on 26th November, India pauses for a moment—like turning the page of a precious book—to celebrate Samvidhan Diwas, the day our Constitution was adopted. It is not just a date marked on the calendar; it is the birthday of India’s identity, the blueprint of our democracy, and the guiding light that shows us who we are and who we can become.

More than seven decades ago, a group of brilliant minds gathered in the halls of the Constituent Assembly. Among them stood a remarkable leader—Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a visionary who believed that a nation is built not just with bricks, but with ideas. He, along with other members, spent nearly three years debating, discussing, and dreaming. They didn’t simply write a document—they carved out a future.

The Constitution they gifted us is like a compass. It tells us what direction our country should move in:

towards justice,

towards liberty,

towards equality,

and towards fraternity.

These are not just powerful words; they are promises—promises that every Indian carries within their heart.
