The global students at UCO are planning another vigil for Nikita Nakal this Friday on campus.
“It is incredible to see the support from the people of Oklahoma”.
The police report said the woman driving the auto was arrested on the scene and charged with driving under the influence.
Four people were killed and 47 were injured Saturday when a vehicle
crashed into a police auto and then into an area where spectators were
watching the
Oklahoma State University homecoming parade.
The University of Central Oklahoma
announced
that one of those killed was Nikita Nakal, an M.B.A. student at Central
Oklahoma from Mumbai, India. “We hope that this scholarship will
provide other students, for decades to come, the chance to pursue their
dream of an MBA here at Central”, said Ethan Waples, director of
graduate programs for the UCO College of Business. While we mourn the
potential unrealized, let us also honor her life by pulling closer and
appreciating the strength of our Broncho family.
Police say five people who were badly injured when a auto crashed
into the crowd at the Oklahoma State homecoming parade remain in
critical condition. “She doesn’t remember a whole lot about what
happened”, attorney Tony Coleman
told reporters.
Her attorney said at a press conference that he believes she suffers
from a mental illness but doesn’t think she had been drinking.
“I have deep concerns about her competency at this point”.
Nakal had earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Mumbai
University, and was attending UCO in the hopes of becoming a financial
analyst.
